Diana Rodriguez Robles is the 2025-2026 Thoreau Demonstration Academy Teacher of the Year!

Diana joined Team Tulsa in 2022 and has taught English language development at Thoreau for two years. She also serves as the department chair.

What led you to a career in education?

Being a second language speaker myself, learning a new language, and moving to a new country, I have experienced what some of my students are going through. I felt inspired to help the multilingual learner community.

What is your favorite thing about your work?

Having great connections with my students. I love making a difference in their lives.

What is one thing you are passionate about outside of teaching? 

Learning new things about this country such as new little towns or places to visit, going to new restaurants, trying new dishes, recipes, and American traditions.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

I worked in the airline industry for 17 years and traveled to many places. My major is in psychology, but my real passion has always been teaching.
